As part of the high-level visits marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution (ALSAI), the Chairman of the institution, Mr. Arben Shehu, held a meeting on May 19, 2025 with the President of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), Mr. Matanyahu Englman, who simultaneously exercises the duties of Comptroller and Ombudsman of the State of Israel.
This meeting constitutes a special moment for deepening the cooperation between the two institutions in the spirit of partnership and professional dialogue that characterizes the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI).
The discussions focused on important issues such as increasing transparency and public accountability through modern audit methods, technological developments and digital governance. The role of EUROSAI as a cooperation platform for promoting audit innovation and sharing successful experiences among member institutions was also appreciated.
The Chairman of ALSAI, Mr. Shehu, evaluated the contribution of Mr. Englman in the leadership of EUROSAI, as well as his continued commitment to strengthening the capacities of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and promoting integrity in auditing.
Mr. Shehu reconfirmed the commitment of ALSAI to expand cooperation with counterpart audit institutions.
On his part, Mr. Englman was grateful for the hospitality and emphasized the active role that the ALSAI plays in promoting advanced auditing standards in the region. He also reconfirmed EUROSAI’s readiness to support joint initiatives aimed at increasing the effectiveness of external audit institutions in Europe.
The meeting demonstrated the shared will to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and promote best practices in the field of public audit, within the framework of European and international standards.
