The Journey of the Young EUROSAI Conference
During the 2008 Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) held in Kraków, Poland, a small group of five young professionals came together, mainly because they were among the few young participants attending the event.
The very purpose behind the establishment of Young EUROSAI was to create a platform for relatively young staff members within Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) to exchange ideas and develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced by public audit institutions. These young participants were not necessarily auditors, as valuable ideas and fresh perspectives can emerge from anyone. Organizing Young EUROSAI as a separate conference created an opportunity for younger professionals to establish their own network and strengthen international cooperation among peers.
At that time, many EUROSAI events were primarily attended by more experienced auditors. Therefore, setting the age limit at 35 aimed to encourage the participation of younger professionals who sought a better understanding of the functioning, procedures, and evolving role of SAIs.
Many participants from previous Young EUROSAI conferences remain connected to one another both professionally and personally. The network developed through these conferences provides participants with an accessible international platform for collaboration, allowing them to exchange opinions, seek advice, and discuss professional challenges, thereby contributing to the improvement of audit quality and institutional performance.
Furthermore, this cooperation helps both young professionals and their respective SAIs identify emerging international developments and evolving issues, not only in audit topics and methodologies but also in the broader processes and future direction of Young EUROSAI itself.
Over the Years
Empowering the Next Generation of Auditors The 7th Young EUROSAI Conference in Tirana, 2026
The 7th Young EUROSAI (YES) Conference represents an important international platform dedicated to empowering young auditors and strengthening their active involvement in shaping the future of modern public sector auditing. By bringing together more than 60 participants from 32 peer Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), the conference provides a valuable opportunity for the exchange of professional experiences, innovative practices, and forward-looking approaches in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sustainability auditing.
At a time when public institutions are facing increasingly complex challenges, the role of young auditors has become essential in driving change, fostering innovation, and enhancing transparency.
In line with the main theme, “Future-Ready Auditors: Catalysts for Change in a Sustainable and Digital World,” the conference contributes to strengthening cooperation and networking among the new generation of EUROSAI auditors by promoting professional development and the integration of modern technologies into auditing practices. Discussions and presentations focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) auditing, environmental sustainability, and institutional innovation are expected to contribute significantly to enhancing the capacities of participating SAIs and supporting their adaptation to future challenges and evolving global demands.
The presentation topics will primarily focus on: Digital transformation in auditing; Artificial intelligence and institutional preparedness for AI; Environmental sustainability auditing; Innovation and digital resilience; Financial and performance auditing; The use of technology in public sector auditing; Strengthening the professional competencies and professional development of young auditors.
