Following the official activities marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution, the Chairman of ALSAI, Mr. Arben Shehu, hosted in a special meeting the representative of the Presidency of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Mr. Augusto Nardes. Mr. Nardes also holds the position of Minister at the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil (TCU).

At the meeting between Mr. Shehu and Mr. Nardes, visions and experiences were shared on the challenges and the ever-growing role of supreme audit institutions in addressing global issues, such as: climate change, digital governance, and sustainable management of public finances.

An important issue of the discussions was the global initiative “Climate Scanner”, supported by INTOSAI, in which Albania actively participates. Preparations for the 2025 Climate Summit, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro on August 14-15 and which aims to become a key moment for global auditing of environmental issues, were discussed.

The Chairman of ALSAI, Mr. Arben Shehu, praised Mr. Narde’s active role in leading INTOSAI’s global initiatives and his commitment to orienting public auditing towards international strategic priorities. He emphasized that the participation of senior INTOSAI representatives in the anniversary activities of ALSAI is a testament to the increasingly important role of the Albanian institution in the international arena.

On his part, Mr. Nardes praised the engagement of ALSAI in global public audit agendas and described the institution’s 100th anniversary as an excellent opportunity to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

At the meeting, it was agreed to strengthen cooperation between the ALSAI and the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil, through joint projects in the field of training, exchange of experiences and promotion of innovation in auditing.
