The cycle of technical support from the National Audit Office in Great Britain (NAO UK) on the development of strategic communication and the drafting of audit reports is successfully concluded.

On 25 and 26 February 2026, a team from NAO UK, consisting of Clare Harkey, Director of Press Relations, Lisa Dewsbury, Senior Communications Manager and Natalie Law, Senior Auditor, held closing meetings with the staff of the Directorate of Communications and External Relations and auditors from several departments at ALSAI, thus consolidating the established cooperation between the two Supreme Audit Institutions.

In these working meetings, practical guidelines and concrete recommendations for improving the process of drafting audit reports were discussed, in cooperation with drafting teams and other auditors. Joint sessions were also held on the preparation of executive summaries of reports, the identification and formulation of key messages, and the definition of practical approaches that ensure clarity, coherence and understanding for readers and wider audiences.

In the field of communication, NAO UK experts focused on drafting a concrete communication plan to increase the impact of audit reports on target audiences, focusing on defining key messages, using clear and understandable language, aligning with the SAI’s strategic objectives, taking a proactive approach and segmenting stakeholders.

The cooperation between the ALSAI and NAO UK represents an important step in strengthening institutional capacities, particularly in the field of strategic communication and public transparency. Building on NAO UK’s many years of experience, this partnership aims to modernize and structure the ALSAI’s approach to communicating with the public and stakeholders.
