On 21 May 2026, at the NATO Headquarters Conference Centre in Brussels, Belgium, the Annual Meeting between the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) and the Supreme Audit Institutions of NATO member countries took place. Two representatives of the ALSAI also participated in this event, confirming the institution’s commitment to strengthening professional cooperation and the exchange of best practices in the field of public and defence audit.
During the working sessions, IBAN’s annual activity reports, performance audits and special reports on financial administration and resource management in NATO structures were presented. Special attention was paid to the audit of public funds in crisis and conflict situations, as well as the role of supreme audit institutions in ensuring transparency, integrity and accountability.
In the closing panel, participants discussed the challenges of maintaining confidentiality in defense audits, emphasizing the importance of balancing security requirements with the obligation for transparency towards the public.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the need for increased international cooperation between supreme audit institutions in order to strengthen transparency, integrity and the efficient use of public funds.
