On 2–3 February 2026, the International Conference “AI in State Audit 2026” was held in Abu Dhabi, organized by the UAE Accountability Authority. The conference brought together heads of Supreme Audit Institutions, international experts, and representatives of leading global organizations to discuss the role, challenges, and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public sector auditing.

The State Supreme Audit Institution, represented by Mr. Rodjan Alimerkaj, attended the conference via the online platform, reaffirming the institutional commitment of the State Supreme Audit Institution of Albania to the latest international developments in the fields of auditing and technology.
The State Supreme Audit Institution was also an active participant in the international Artificial Intelligence audit project, within the framework of the parallel audit organized by EUROSAI—an initiative of particular importance for the standardization and exchange of best practices among Supreme Audit Institutions.
The conference opened with keynote speeches by senior leaders of public audit institutions and international organizations, emphasizing that Artificial Intelligence is not intended to replace auditors, but rather to significantly enhance analytical capabilities, operational efficiency, and the quality of audit findings.
Particular attention was devoted to the practical use of AI in auditing, through presentations on analytical tools, the automation of audit processes, and the development of dedicated methodologies for auditing AI based systems.
The professional workshops provided concrete examples of the application of these technologies within Supreme Audit Institutions.
The conference “AI in State Audit 2026” confirmed that Artificial Intelligence has already become a key component of the modernization of public sector auditing.
The participation of the State Supreme Audit Institution of Albania and its engagement in international AI audit projects demonstrate the institution’s strategic orientation toward strengthening professional capacities, enhancing audit quality, and ensuring accountability in the digital era.
