The Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO) organized in Istanbul, from 2 to 5 December 2025, the international workshop “EUROSAI Development Activities Project launch and Audit Impact”, an important event that marked the official launch of the new EUROSAI development project. At this event, the ALSAI was represented by Ms. Xhesila Nano, Head of Communication and International Relations, Ms. Valdete Berisha, Senior Auditor in the State Budget Audit Department and Ms. Xhuljeta Çelaj, Senior Auditor in the Performance Audit Department. The workshop was also attended by representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Kosovo, North Macedonia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro and Georgia.
During the four working days, the workshop focused on the central themes of the audit cycle, addressing the entire process from planning to reporting, communication of results and quality management. Participants were introduced to the objectives of the EUROSAI Development Activities (EDA) project, the expectations for common results and the ways of coordination within the EUROSAI network, under the technical guidance of the SNAO. The following working sessions brought about a broad exchange of ideas and experiences on the factors that influence the success and impact of an audit. The importance of accurate planning, in-depth analysis of the problem and clear definition of audit objectives and criteria was emphasized. The ALSAI representatives contributed with their practices and approaches in performance, financial and compliance audits and in improving the quality of audits, enriching the technical discussions of the workshop.
The sessions also extensively addressed the role of strategic communication and reporting in increasing the impact of auditing. It was underlined that audit findings only gain their full value through clear communication and effective use by institutions and the public. On the last day, participants focused on quality management and the development of further steps for the drafting of the EDA Project Plan, a document that will guide the implementation phase and EUROSAI’s joint activities for the coming years.
The participation of the ALSAI in this activity strengthens the institution’s commitment to follow the most contemporary public audit standards and practices, to increase the quality and impact of audits and to contribute to the professional development of the EUROSAI network. The workshop, organized by SNAO, provided a valuable platform for cooperation between partner institutions and a valuable opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the service of transparency and public accountability.
