On 29–30 May 2025, the Regional Workshop on “Information Technology Audits – Developments and Challenges” was held in Pristina, organized by the National Audit Office of Kosovo (KNAO).
The workshop aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, strengthen cooperation among Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), and address the current challenges facing Information Technology (IT) auditing in the public sector.
The workshop brought together representatives from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across the region and beyond, including Poland, Portugal, Estonia, Turkey, North Macedonia, and Albania, as well as representatives of international organizations, including the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).
Throughout the workshop, participants shared best practices in IT auditing, explored recent developments in the use of artificial intelligence in auditing, and discussed strategies for addressing cybersecurity threats in the public sector. The event featured interactive discussions and the exchange of practical experiences, providing valuable insights for strengthening institutional capacities in the field of IT auditing.
Participants emphasized the challenges posed by digital transformation, highlighting the need for a coordinated approach that promotes knowledge sharing and the development of human capacities. They also recognized the contribution of each institution to advancing IT audit practices and stressed the importance of a collective response to the growing risks associated with cybersecurity.
The workshop marked another important step in ALSAI’s commitment to regional and international cooperation, as well as to strengthening the role of IT auditing in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in the public sector.
