On January 30, 2026, the event of launching the projects “Strengthening the sustainability of the public sector against corruption” and “Fight against money laundering in Albania”, co-funded by the Swiss state and the Council of Europe, implemented by the latter.
The meeting was attended by high-level representatives from the Council of Europe, Swiss Embassy, Albanian public institutions and civil society organizations. It served as a platform for introducing strategic objectives of projects, key areas of intervention, as well as the support expected to be offered to Albanian institutions in the fields of anti-corruption, fight against money laundering and strengthening the recovery and asset management mechanisms.
Discussions on the panels focused on key aspects of Albania’s efforts to strengthen the anti-corruption framework and fight against money laundering. The exchanges focused on transition from separate instruments of integrity to coherent and comprehensive integrity systems, as well as on recent developments and lessons learned by European Union member states in the field of recovery, management and social reuse of seized assets of criminal origin. The discussions also highlighted the emerging standards against money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as their implications at national level, with a particular focus on risk-based oversight of non-financial businesses and professions, as well as good practices in this area.
The continuous participation of the Supreme State Audit in such activities aimed at promoting the strengthening of anti-corruption mechanisms, demonstrates the institution’s commitment to actively contribute to improving good governance, increasing transparency and strengthening public accountability, in accordance with European and international standards.
