Within the framework of the EUROSAI WGEA initiative (EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing), the initial meeting for international cooperation on the audit topic “Adaption of Forest Management to Climate Change” was held on 4 December 2025 in Warsaw, Poland.
The growing need to protect forests and to undertake appropriate adaptation measures in response to climate change, as well as the role of Supreme Audit Institutions in assessing the integrity of government actions and supporting the transition of national economies towards sustainable development, is of fundamental importance.
During the meeting, a presentation was delivered by Professor Bogdan Jaroszewicz of the University of Warsaw on adapting forest management to the impacts of climate change. In addition, an audit conducted by the Supreme Audit Institution of Poland (which also chairs the EUROSAI WGEA) was presented on the topic “Adaptation of the Forest Management of State Forests to Climate Change.”
Throughout the meeting, each participating SAI briefly presented information on the functioning and structures of forest management in their respective countries.
Alongside the SAIs of Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Slovenia, which expressed interest in joining this initiative, the Supreme Audit Institution of Albania (KLSH) also confirmed its participation in this international engagement, recognizing the significance of the topic.
At this event, which brought together representatives from various European SAIs, KLSH was represented by Mr. Agron Halili, Director at the Department of Local Government and Public Property Audit, as well as by Mr. Petrit Imeraj and Mr. Shkëlzen Hoxha, Auditors within the same Department.
