23–24 June 2025
On 23–24 June 2025, as part of the parallel performance audit on “Dam Protection and Safety” being conducted jointly by the Supreme Audit Institution of Albania (ALSAI) and the National Audit Office of Kosovo (ZKA), several dams in Albania were visited as part of the audit activities.
During this two-day visit, both audit teams conducted on-site inspections of the Tirana Artificial Lake Dam, as well as the Banja and Moglica dams. The Moglica dam, standing at 166.5 meters, is the highest dam in Albania and is of particular importance to the country’s hydropower sector. Its significance is further enhanced by the fact that it was constructed within the last decade.
During the visits to the Banja and Moglica dams, the audit teams were accompanied by representatives of the institutions responsible for overseeing the safety and supervision of these dams.
These site visits not only contributed to a clearer understanding of the current situation, the challenges encountered, and the areas requiring improvement, but also provided valuable evidence to support the conclusions of the audit teams in their respective audit reports.
