The Chairman of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution, Mr. Arben Shehu reported to the Economy and Finance Committee on the Budget Implementation Report for 2023.

The Albanian Supreme Audit Institution by submitting to the Assembly of the “Budget Implementation Report for 2023”, together with the relevant conclusions, fulfills the constitutional and legal obligation, in accordance with the International Auditing Standards and the relevant deadline.

“The Albanian Supreme Audit Institution continues to consider fiscal risks with budgetary impact, issues related to the performance of the main state enterprises; expenses for concessionary and public-private partnership (PPP) contracts with budget support; general government arrears and other contingent liabilities for international court cases”, said the Chairman of ALSAI during his speech.

From the audit activity of 2023, there were missing budget revenues in the amount of 16,935 thousand ALL; in the field of expenses, economic damage in the amount of 104,374 thousand ALL; as well as use without effectiveness, efficiency and economy of public funds in the total value of 5,205,396 thousand ALL.

Mr. Shehu emphasized that through the presentation of this Report to the Assembly, the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution, in addition to the implementation of constitutional and legal obligations, aims to promote transparency, predictability, unity and universality in the management of the budget system and special funds for the purpose of economic, efficient and effective use of public resources, in the service of good governance and in order to improve the living conditions of taxpayers, Albanian citizens.
