On 12 June 2025, an introductory session on the Gender-Responsive Auditing Guide, prepared by UN Women Albania. The Guide is the result of joint cooperation with ALSAI, following the endorsement of the Memorandum of Understanding and the development of a joint working plan outlining future activities.
ALSAI was represented at the session by auditors and representatives from various departments and directorates, with the aim of promoting broader awareness and discussion of the practical Guide. Although primarily focused on performance auditing, the Guide can also serve as a working document for other types of audits, thus facilitating the integration of a gender perspective across all public audit processes.
The Guide will contribute to strengthening and expanding auditors’ professional capacities by fostering knowledge exchange, supporting the proper assessment of gender inequalities, and promoting recommendations for the provision of appropriate services through gender-responsive audits, both at the national level and beyond.
During the session, an overview of the key issues addressed in the Guide was provided, prompting discussions and exchanges on all stages of the audit process, the identification of gender inequality, the role of ALSAI in integrating a gender perspective into the audit process and the incorporation of the gender perspective into performance auditing.
