On 8 July 2026, the Chairman of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution, Mr. Arben Shehu, attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, during which the draft resolution “On the Assessment of the Activity of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution for 2025” was considered.
During the meeting, the Chairman of ALSAI presented the progress made in implementing the recommendations of the Albanian Parliament.
Mr. Shehu stated that ALSAI is conducting audits of concession contracts and public-private partnerships (PPPs), including the Thumanë-Fushë-Krujë-Vorë-Kashar road project, the “Check-Up” service contract, and integrated operating theatre services.
In the field of performance auditing, Mr. Shehu emphasized that issues with a direct impact on citizens have been addressed, including water pollution, dam protection and safety, and measures to reduce poverty within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.
For 2026, the performance audit programme has been expanded to include new areas, such as the operation of hydropower plants (HPPs), photovoltaic systems, grain quality control, and the effectiveness of the Medical Commission for the Assessment of Work Capacity. Furthermore, in cooperation with the Office of the Auditor General of Norway, ALSAI is reviewing its Performance Audit Manual, with the aim of further aligning it with european standards and best practices.
In the field of Information Technology, the 2026 Annual Audit Programme includes a higher number of IT audits compared with previous years. Within the framework of cooperation with its peer institutions, ALSAI is also engaged in several important joint and parallel audits.
Following the discussions, the Committee approved the draft resolution “On the Assessment of the Activity of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution for 2025” and forwarded it to the plenary session of the Albanian Parliament for consideration.
