The Albanian Supreme State Audit Institution (ALSAI) participated at the EUROSAI – OLACEFS Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia

The VII-th Conference of EUROSAI and OLACEFS organizations on “The Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in the Governance of the Public Sector”, was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on September 17-18, 2012. A delegation of the Supreme State Audit, headed by the Chairman, Mr. Bujar Leskaj, attended the Conference.

1tbilisiThe participants of this conference were representatives of thirty eight countries members of EUROSAI and OLACEFS.

The Conference’ work was focused on two main issues: on increasing the credibility of stakeholders through auditing of integrity and managerial accountability; on the reform of public finance management.

The Chairman of the ALSAI, Mr. Leskaj, held several meetings with fellow homologues of participating SAI-s, such as the President of the Slovenian Court of Audit, Mr. Igor Šoltes, the President of the Polish Supreme Audit Office (NIK), Mr. Jacek Jezierski, the President of the Turkish Court of Accounts, Dr. Recai Akyel and many others.
The main topics of the meetings were the progress of the already existing cooperation agreements with many of these countries and the further enlargement and strengthening of these relations, which are aimed to promote the exchanging of expertise and capacity building within the ALSAI, through training courses on the performance audit, compliance audit and certification of financial statements.

The fellow homologues of Slovenia, Poland and Turkey expressed their prompt support and help on the further capacity building of ALSAI auditors.
At the conclusion of the Conference’ work, the EUROSAI and OLACEFS released a Joint Declaration, in which, amongst other things, is stated that: “Both organizations encourage the spreading of principles of management accountability, transparency and integrity. They also encourage audit cooperation aimed to promote the further increase of efficiency and effectiveness in the management of public funds on behalf of the citizens.”
