On 27 September 2013, in Skopje, Mr.Bujar Leskaj, Chairman of the State Supreme Audit Institution of Albania, signed an Agreement on Cooperation with Mrs.Tanja Tanevska, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Macedonia.
This Agreement on Cooperation is considered by both Heads of Institutions, as very important not only in the framework of consolidation of mutual relations in the respective areas, but as well as neighbor countries, which share the same European aspiration.
This Agreement was prepared and signed not just in respect of best principles and exchange of experiences under the motto of INTOSAI, Experentia Mutua Omnibus Prodest”, but on the light of a close cooperation too, for two neighbor countries which may advantage from each other experiences by developing in the future audits or projects in common, aiming to achieve the implementation of objectives described in this agreement.
During the discussions, there were exchanged information’s and there were presented general overviews on the historic and actual positions of the ALSAI and SAO of Macedonia. Special attention was paid to the relations between SAI’s and other public institutions, especially with Parliaments and civil society organizations or academic bodies, in order to create possibilities to benefit as much as possible knowledge and plainness during the audit work.
An important issue discussed was the development of cooperation with homologue SAI’s, in the region and beyond, where the ALSAI achievements during these two years, in the training and audit activities, were strongly appreciated by the Macedonian homologue. Mr. Leskaj and Mrs.Tanevska, agreed commonly that these kind of experiences and benefits, serve to increase professional capacities of staff and professionalism in carrying out more qualitative audits.
In order to have a more extended overview on the activity of ALSAI during the last 2 years, Mr.Leskaj donated to Mrs.Tanevska, the publications of ALSAI and invited his homologue to personally or through her staff, contribute with editorials or materials on audit topics on the forthcoming issues of the scientific magazine of ALSAI “Public Audit”. Mrs.Tanevska appreciated with interest the publications and expressed her thanks for the invitation.
The signing of this Agreement and its implementation further on, is another value added and another step forward to bring in the ALSAI, sound experiences with the scope to carry out a qualitative audit activity, modern and professional, as well as to achieve the institutional strategic objectives.
Mr.Leskaj, was accompanied during this meeting by Mr.Kristaq Gjyli, Director General, Mrs.Nikoleta Piranjani, Senior Auditor and Mrs.Dëshira Huqi, Head of IR sector, while Mrs.Tanevska was accompanied by Mr. Naser Ademi, vice Auditor General and Mrs.Kaliopi Petkoska, auditor and responsible for the IR relations.
